Setting down the norms and establishing the responsibility of each team in the Prayogshala can ensure the smooth functioning of the space. In this activity, the facilitator will have to recap the norms and expectations decided by the students and the facilitator together during the first session of Prayogshala. Following the recap, students will make a badge or tag for themselves that denotes their responsibility. This tag will ensure that children take ownership of their role and also help with better identification among the facilitator and the other students.
This activity is a follow-up activity to ‘setting the norms’ section of Intro to Prayogshala activity.

Instructions to be given to students
Step 0:
Recap the norms to the students. Divide responsibilities for the teams in the Prayogshala. Some sample team responsibilities are:
Roll Call - Call out the names of the students to ensure their attendance, and report the absentees to the facilitator.
Cleanliness Management - Ensure that the students dispose of waste properly and maintain the cleanliness of the Prayogshala.
Workspace Organization - Check whether each team returns the leftover resources and organizes their space after the completion of each session.
Stock Management - Assist the facilitator in calculating the remaining stock of the resources after each session.
Time Management - Ensure that students arrive for the session on time and report any frequent latecomers to the facilitator.
Assign one responsibility to each team and clearly explain the role they will have to play.
The roles assigned to each team will have to be revised 3 months from the time it was assigned.
Step 1:
Ask children to start making badges or tags. If passport size pictures are available, it can be pasted on the card. Ensure details such as the child’s name, team name, and the responsibility assigned to the team are added on the card.
Step 2:
After filling in the details, children can optionally laminate the card using cardboard or a chart to protect it from any damage.
Step 3:
Finally, attach a piece of thread or rope to the card to make the tag. The badge/tag is now ready for use!
Step 4:
Ask each team to select one member amongst them to come up, display their badge and elaborate their responsibility to the rest of the students.
Special Instructions for Facilitators
Responsibility division
Make sure you take the dynamics and strengths of each team into account while dividing the responsibilities. You can include or exclude responsibilities according to their relevance in your Prayogshala.
Further, ensure that you use this session to reiterate the norms of your Prayogshala. One norm that you can add here is that wearing their badge or tag is mandatory inside the Prayogshala.
Encourage creativity
Nudge children to get as creative as possible! While individual badges can differ in design, ask children to ensure that they represent the essence of their team.
Permit different processes
While some teams might divide the work (one child cuts the chart, one child fills in details, one child laminates, etc.), children in some teams might make their individual cards by themselves. Permit both processes, but check for variation in the efficiency of the processes and facilitate a discussion around it at the end of the session.
Wrapping up the session:
Now that you’ve completed the activity, it is time to tell the students to have the badge in every session going forward. Finally, end the session on a joyful note saying you look forward to all the amazing things children are going to create in this space!
Have fun making and share the works of your students with the hashtag #projectprayogshala to get featured!
